Contemporary Gateways

The aim of this project is to investigate how found objects in certain areas may vary and how they may act as a reflection of certain demographics (e.g. wealth, age etc) of the people that live in or use that area.

Artefacts are often discussed in the context of the past and are described as being a way of bringing us face-to face with an ancient civilisation or culture, what I intend to do is present people and bring them face-to-face with the people that exist now.

Found objects can form their own narrative and therefore have the ability to tell a story of their history and owners. When looking at these objects many questions can form, how did that object come to be in this place, who left it etc.
